Analysis

Hi for the last time !
First of all ,I’m really happy now.(Don’t misunderstand. Not because of finishing this book) It is owing to the fact that Galatasaray Medical Park won.  This will be my last entry about the book. Generally, I enjoyed reading the book . Thanks God it wasn’t such a book as I predicted. Now I’m letting you alone with my analysis.
Analysis-Holes
I must say that the author Louis Sachar did a great job writing a book that addresses to all ages. He provided this with his artless , simple and clear style using words from everyday language.  Hence, a wide group of people ,especially, children is able to understand what he writes. In addition to this , his choice of topics and themes can make the book charming for adults and teenagers. I think there are symbols in the book that the author professionally created. For example, onions symbolized good thinks in contrast to yellow-spotted lizards symbolizing harmful nature in life. Character are also meticulously selected to discuss the themes. These characters also reflects real people.  There are no repetitions or no aspects breaking the rhtym of the plot. As a results this book becomes a thrilling book. Maybe only in the beginning the plot flow slowly but in other parts it was thrilling. The author was trying to say that this life is full of problems but you can solve these if you really want and really exert effort. Destiny shouldn’t control your future ; you should control your destiny and your future. The book was really good and surprised me. The author also says that this book is his best.
Main themes of the book
1)You can change your destiny
2)Good always wins
3)Friendship is important
4)Good work gets reward
5)Character can be improved
Let's watch an interview with Louis Sachar.

I have finished reading my book . I would like to analyze the character of Stanley. I hope you like it.
Character Analysis – Stanley Yelnats
Stanley (later called as Caveman) is the overweight and physically weak protagonist of the book who dramatically changes through the story. Before he came to Camp Green Lake he had no friends and was unable to communicate with any of his peers. He accepted his bad luck and his miserable life as it is and did nothing to change it. Although he lives a bad life he could see the positive sites of life as an optimist person.  He was quite coward and couldn’t object to the bully boy , Derrick Dunne, because he lacked self-confidence. However , he dramatically changes in the camp and solves almost all of his problems.
By the time he transforms into  a different person. Basically his personality gets mature Probably not due to digging holes but maybe due to living away from his parents  in harsh conditions. He is not a coward anymore. He is really courageous and helpful in the end as we see that he escapes from the camp to look for his new best friend Zero and save him. From this behavior we can also understand that he is self-confident ; he learned how to build a friednship and be good friend . All in all , he has transformed from a looser into a hero founding a treasure and breaking the so-called curse of his family.
This is my letter for Stanley
Hi Stanley,
I’m happy that you are more mature now. You have made an important progress . You have always been a nice person with your polite , helpful and calm attitude towards people. You can make now friends easier. Take care of your life in the future and don’t spoil your life. Be careful of not wasting your money that you earned with a heavy heart. Good luck be with you! See you !

Hi again,
I have made a progress reading the book since my last entry . I was excitedly and passionately reading the book until I got some spoilers today in the class. I tried not to hear them closing my ears but unfortunately I heard a little. I just finished reading 25th chapter and informed that Kate Barlow lived in a village near Green Lake .This information inspired me and I have some predictions of the rest of the book. Let’s look what I think.
A great future is waiting for Stanley
Stanley finding the gold tube and the icon KB , I wasn’t interested in at the beginning. I thought that it is an unimportant detail and didn’t attach much importance to it . I continued reading. Looking for a quotation from the text , I saw the name “ Kate Barlow “ and recognized that they could be related. After some pages , just like me Stanley noticed that KB and Kate Barlow may be related.  In next few days Stanley could coincidently find an evidence that belongs to the treasure of Kate Barlow. Consequently , he could be curious about it and look for it at nights when other are asleep. He will try to get rid of his and his ancestor’s bad luck where all started when his great-grandfather get robbed. After he finds the treasure, he can take some part of it and hide the other part somewhere that he can later find. Next, he can prepare a plan to escape. Taking a wheelbarrow and filling it secretly with a few canteens full of water which he stole from others , a sack full of sunflower seeds and treasure. A few canteens of water and a sack of sunflower may be enough for a few days to keep him alive. Then, he can escape and survive until he reaches a village.    He can change the destiny of himself and save all the family and without doing illegal just taking what actually belongs to him.
This is just my prediction. I wonder whether it is gonna happen or not . I can’t wait to read the rest . See you soon.
PS: Wait for me, if you are also curios about it.

My First Impressions

Hi everybody,
This is my first entry for my first ever blog. So , I’m pretty nervous. I hope you like what I write and enjoy reading my blog.
After reading first ten chapters, I could barely be able to write something. Just after reading first pages , I thought it’s an ordinary and boring child book that always has an overweight , outsider boy or girl as the protagonist. Such a book usually ends with protagonist’s being liked and considered as a normal person. Due to the fact that I thought it is such an ordinary book, I had doubts about reading it and was in the opinion that this book was no different than the book “ Big Mouth And Ugly Girl” that we dealt with in the summer. I hope this book is not as pessimistic as I predict but at least an enjoyable book.
If you take a bad boy and make him dig a hole every day in the hot sun, it will turn him into good boy. That was what some people thought. ” p:15 l:15
This is the philosophy of the Camp Green Lake. I found this idea senseless and illogical. After all this , I sank into despair that I won’t enjoy reading this book.   You can understand the picture I imagined with this sentence. “The land was barren and desolate.”p:14 l:9
This sentence reminded me of the film “ Rabbit-Proof Fence”. The plot may also be similar. Maybe Stanley and his friends will try to escape and will have to walk through a desert without having any water.

.
Nonetheless, recent events changed my bad opinion and first impression about the book. I was even thinking why he chose the camp instead of jail. At least , he wouldn’t be supposed to work under the nerve-wracking sunlight. Friendly counselor, Mr. Pendanski, changed my opinion that neither people in the camp nor the environment of the camp can be good . Due to his and other children’s friendly and helpful attitude, I lost my negative standpoint and was filled with hopes of enjoying reading the book.
I need to read more to make the questions in my mind clear.
Can Stanley and his friends escape from the camp?
Will Stanley have an enjoyable and unremarkable time in the camp or just agonizing time?
Can digging holes help youngsters improve their charecters ?

Answers lie in the next pages. If you are curios about the answers, just wait for my next entry. See you soon!
